About Leo
A former rugby nut – I turned to touch rugby after tearing the same AC knee ligaments twice – and have played touch rugby 3 times a week for the last 12 years. I always considered myself naturally fit and athletic – though I never really worked on my conditioning. After many false starts I conceded that exercising at gym was never going to capture my imagination. As a guy – “the older you get the faster you were”. I have always had a healthy appetite – and by age 33 I had packed on several extra kilos and started picking up connective tissue injuries. Hamstrung by recurring injuries with lengthy, depressing periods on the sidelines meant I packed on even more weight! A vicious spiral! My pace had vanished and I could never trust my legs to hold out when sprinting. I had resigned to my fate and had accepted that I was ‘over the hill’. Until Sean had other ideas…
Enter the kettlebell!
I started off slowly at first and gradually became completely and utterly hooked! After my very first KB class my body immediately started re-awakening! I became amazed at how much work my body could do – and how far it could be pushed and still ask for more. Now I cannot get enough! I had never experienced anything like it! It feels wonderful again to confidently run at full pace. Every aspect regarding my athletic performance has dramatically improved – my balance – my explosiveness – my stamina – my accuracy.
I have been completely injury-free for over a year now – and have never been faster, stronger or fitter – and I feel like my journey has only just begun!! This experience has quite literally reversed the ageing process for me – long may that continue!
